DAKAR, Senegal, Sept. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Softcare recently welcomed a technical delegation comprising representatives from the Senegalese Association for Standardization (ASN), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) to its factory in Senegal for discussions on local hygiene product manufacturing capabilities, technical processes, and industry needs.

Softcare Welcomes ASN, ISO and SIS Delegation as Part of an Assessment Mission on Senegal's Hygiene Products Ecosystem

The visit was conducted as part of the project, “Strengthening the Application of and Compliance with International Standards for Menstrual Hygiene Products — Stakeholder Needs Assessment.” The initiative aims to better understand the capabilities, needs, and constraints of different stakeholders across Senegal’s hygiene products value chain, while contributing to the continued strengthening of the country’s National Quality Infrastructure (NQI).

As a local manufacturer in Senegal, Softcare was the sanitary pad manufacturing site visited by the delegation as part of this mission. The representatives engaged with Softcare teams on production capabilities, technical processes, quality management systems, as well as the needs and challenges facing the sector, before touring the production facilities.

Softcare has maintained a long-term presence in the Senegalese market and continues to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems to provide reliable hygiene solutions for local families. As an important player in Senegal’s hygiene products sector, Softcare remains attentive to consumers’ everyday needs and maintains strong relationships with consumers, partners, and local communities. The company is committed to responsible business practices and contributes to improving families’ quality of life and supporting social development.

The discussions and site visit were intended to gather information to better understand the realities and needs of the local industry as part of the stakeholder assessment. The observations and information collected will contribute to the project and the broader analysis of Senegal’s national hygiene products ecosystem.

This technical visit illustrates the importance of engagement between stakeholders in the local hygiene products industry and standardization partners in better identifying needs related to standards, testing, conformity assessment, and technical capabilities. Through this process, stakeholders are contributing to a better understanding of the conditions required to support the development of a more structured, quality-focused, and sustainable hygiene sector in Senegal.
